Broad Street is a colorful roadway with plenty of murals appearing on the sides of its buildings as it stretches from Providence to Cranston. It also has an amazing number of thriving food enterprises run by friendly, hard-working people who came from places far and wide.
Food Notes for the week of Aug. 20
Savor Providence, a culinary tour through a variety of Providence restaurants, is set for Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Participants will use tickets to sample a taste of a restaurant's signature dish or classic cocktail. Participating restaurants include 3 Steeple Street, Aspire, Bluefin Grill, Blue Grotto, Bravo Brasserie, Costantino's, Fleming's Prime Steak House, Gracie's, La Laiterie, Local 121, Mill's Tavern, Red Stripe, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Trinity Brewhouse, Venda Ravioli (at left) and Waterplace.

The Broad Street International Food Tour, an introduction to the ethnic restaurants in Pawtucket, Central Falls and Cumberland, is part of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council's effort to showcase the cultural and historical richness of the street, which is the focus of a revitalization effort by the three municipalities.
