Earth Portals: Exploring
new metaphors of consciousness. The site of Jose
Arguelles, described at that link as "one of the originators of the Earth
Day concept and is recognized as the 'father of the Whole Earth Festival,' ....
at Davis, California." That festival began in 1969 when Arguelles did an "Art
Happening" on the at UC Davis campus, according to the surprisingly terse festival

Worms: Grow your own garden fertilizer.
Basement worm farming is booming. Use special red worms, don't trap the nightcrawlers
in your backyard.
WormWoman.com:
Mary Appelhof of Kalamazoo, Mich. has written and self-published several worm
books. She sells supplies here, and has a couple of wild videos. Her FAQ contains
the very useful info that it will take about six months for worms to munch through
enough garbage to give you garden gold.
Composting
with red wriggler worms, from Canada's City
Farmer. An extensive worm FAQ with good links and an important admonition:
"Taking worms out of their natural environment and placing them in containers
creates a human responsibility. They are living creatures with their own unique
needs, so it is important to create and maintain a healthy habitat for them
to do their work."
