SATURDAY

North Attleboro. Ceremony at both St. Mary Cemetery, off Town Street, and Mount Hope Cemetery, Mount Hope Avenue. 8 am. Parade begins at North Attleboro Electric Co., Landry Avenue, at 10 am, and ends at the Martin School, Landry Avenue, for rededication ceremony of the Kelly Boulevard Bridge, the Women's Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Portsmouth. American Legion Unit 18 Women's Auxiliary distributes poppies in memory of the country's fallen soldiers, 9 am-2 pm, Clements Market, 2575 East Main Rd., Portsmouth.

SATURDAY-MONDAY

Warwick. Avenue of Flags, Pawtuxet Memorial Park, 100 Harrison Ave., Warwick. 781-4600. Display of more than 300 American flags (5 feet by 9 feet) in tribute to U.S. veterans. 9 am-5 pm.

SUNDAY

Attleboro. Sunrise service, 8 am at the Hillside Cemetery, South Main Street, followed by a religious service, 10 am in St. Joseph Church, South Main Street.

Bristol. Memorial Sunday Services in the chapel at the Rhode Island Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Ave., at 9:15 am. Coffee and doughnuts served following Mass.

Charlestown. Parade steps off at 1 pm near the South Kingstown town line (Ridgewood Road) and proceeds west along Old Post Road (Route 1A) ending at Fort Neck (Kim Tom Drive). A memorial observance will be held at Ninigret Park after the parade.

Cranston. Parade leaves from Bain Middle School, 135 Gansett Ave., at noon, travels to Park Avenue and ends at Cranston Stadium, off Park Avenue, at 12:45. Ceremonies and a musical concert will follow until 2 pm. A shuttle bus will transport people from Bain School and Cranston City Hall, 869 Park Ave., to the stadium.

East Providence. Wreath laying at World War I and II memorials, Riverside Square, then to Legion Square. 9 am. Service in Riverside Congregational Church, after which all go to historic Littleneck Cemetery for a memorial service. 10 am.

Exeter. Parade steps off from Sunderland and Ten Rod roads at 2 pm, down Ten Rod Road to Town Hall for a ceremony.

Hope Valley. Noon memorial service at the American Legion Hall, Main Street. Parade at 1:30 pm from the Hope Valley Fire Station, on Main Street, travel into Richmond and end at that town's Wyoming Square.

Little Compton. Flag Retirement Ceremony, 2 pm in front of Legion Hall, the Commons. All flags to be retired should be turned in beforehand. To make arrangements to drop off flags or have them picked up, call Bert Chretien, 635-4652.

Somerset. Memorial service at Somerset Baptist Church, High Street, at 10 am, followed by a service at the World War II Memorial at the Somerset Public Library, 1464 County St.

Warren. Ceremony at 9 am at the Vietnam Memorial on Market Street includes placing a wreath and the Warren Federal Blues firing a cannon.

MONDAY

Attleboro. Parade begins 10:30 am from the Knights of Columbus Hall, Hodges Street, proceeding on Hayward Street to North Main Street, across Peck Street, then on to Bank Street, right on Park Street, left on South Main Street, left on Mill Street to Union Street, ending with a ceremony on the Attleboro War Veterans Memorial Common. The ceremony ends with the traditional gun salute and "Taps" played by members of the Attleboro High School Band.

Barrington. Ceremony 8:30 am at Victory Gate, Barrington High School, Lincoln Avenue, includes placing a wreath and roll call, reading the names of Barrington's war dead. Parade at 9:30 from Lincoln Avenue, turning left on Upland Way, marching south, turning left onto Barrington Avenue and continuing to Maple Avenue. The parade will turn left and continue east along Maple Avenue to County Road at Town Hall, where a wreath will be placed.

Bristol. Ceremonies begin at 9:45. A bus takes people from the parking lot across from Bristol Town Hall, 10 Court St., to the North Burial Ground ceremonies. A bus leaves the Burnside Building, Hope and Court streets, at 9:15 am. Parade proceeds south on Hope Street, pausing at VFW Post 237 for wreath-laying, then proceeding to the Bristol War Veterans Honor Roll Garden for exercises and speaking program. Collation follows at the Bristol Train of Artillery Hall, 135 State St. If it rains, the parade will be canceled and the exercise and speaking program will be held at the VFW post, 850 Hope St., at 10 am.

Carolina. Parade, 9 am, from the Carolina Fire Station, Route 122, to the Grand Pre Park.

Cumberland. Ceremony at 11 am at the Monastery grounds, 1464 Diamond Hill Rd. If it rains, the event will be held at American Legion Post 14, 690 Broad St. A collation will follow at the American Legion Post 14.

East Greenwich. Parade leaves the parking lot at Swift Gym, Peirce Street, 10 am, to Mawney Street, to First Avenue, to Main Street, where there will be a closing ceremony at Town Hall.

East Providence. Parade begins at Oldham School, 640 Bullocks Point Ave., up Bullocks Point Avenue to Riverside Square, down Turner Avenue to Willett Avenue, back to American Legion Post 10, 830 Willett Ave. 10 am.

Exeter. Observance at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Route 2, at 1 pm.

Fall River.

Battleship Cove. Traditional Memorial Day observance with a 21-gun salute marking the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II from the battleship Massachusetts at noon. The flag will then be raised from half-mast.

Parade at 2 pm from Kennedy Park, South Main Street and Bradford Avenue. Units assemble at the park at 1 for wreath-laying ceremony that includes the sounding of "Taps" and volleys. Parade proceeds along South Main to Bank Street and then into the Municipal Veterans Memorial Building, 72 Bank St., for final ceremonies. Coffee and pastries follow.

Jamestown. Parade forms at Jamestown School on Lawn Avenue at 9:30 am, down Watson Avenue to North Main Road and Narragansett Avenue for a ceremony at the cemetery. Concludes with a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Square, at East Ferry.

Little Compton. Parade steps off at 10 am, marching twice around the Commons, ending on Pike's Peak, at the west tip of the Commons, for the annual memorial service. If it rains, the event will be held inside at the Katherine B. McMahon Middle School Gymnasium.

Lincoln. Parade steps off at Reservoir and Smithfield avenues and ends at the American Legion Hall on Chapel Street. Rain or shine. 10 am.

Newport.

The Col. Rich Higgins Detachment Marine Corps League holds a ceremony at 10 am by the Beirut, Lebanon, Memorial in Perrotti Park, America's Cup Avenue.

Ceremonies at 11 am in Storer Park, by the causeway to Goat Island.

The United Veterans Council of Newport County holds a ceremony on the lawn of Newport City Hall, 43 Broadway, noon.

North Kingstown. A ceremony will be held at 8:30 am at Prospect Park to honor Matthew J. August, killed in Iraq in January 2004. Parade, meet 9:30 am in Wilson Park, West Main Street, Wickford, stepping off at 10. The route will follow West Main Street to Brown and Phillips streets, onto Tower Hill Road to the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial on the grounds of Elm Grove Cemetery, for ceremonies at 11. Along the way there will be wreath-laying ceremonies at Updike Park's World War Memorial and at Wickford Harbor.

North Smithfield. Parade will start from Slatersville Plaza, North Main Street, at 10:30 am, and end at the VFW Post, School Street.

Pawtucket. Ceremony. 9 am Shell at Slater Park, Armistice Boulevard; 9:15 am, Hiker Monument at Grove and Underwood streets; 9:30 am, Unknown Military Dead inside cemetery at Mineral Spring Avenue; and 11 am, wreath laying, patriotic speeches, and music at Veterans Memorial Park, Roosevelt Avenue and Exchange Street.

Portsmouth. Memorial Day exercises from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the VFW Post 5390 on Anthony Road.

Rehoboth. Parade steps off at 10:15 am at the Rehoboth Congregational Church in the village, to Route 44 and Danforth Street, turning east to the Palmer River School, where the memorial service will be held.

Somerset. Parade begins at 10 am at Somerset High School, Grandview Avenue, stopping at the Veterans Green on Riverside Avenue for a ceremony. Parade will continue to the VFW Hall at Washington and County streets for the final ceremony and refreshments.

South Attleboro. Parade starts from the World War II Memorial at Lees Pond, Washington Street, proceeds along Route 1 and turns right at Route 123, stopping at monuments along the route. Closing ceremony at Newell Burying Ground. 8:30 am.

South Kingstown. Parade at 10 am from the corner of School Street and Kingstown Road, to Dale Carlia Corner's Vietnam Veterans Memorial for a brief ceremony, and then down Main Street to Saugatucket Park, 99 High St., Wakefield, for concluding ceremonies.

Swansea. Memorial Day Mass at St. Michael Church in Ocean Grove at 9 am, followed by a memorial service at 10 at the Swansea Town Hall on Main Stret, where a wreath laying service will be held. Parade at 1 pm.

Warren. Exercises at 8 am at State Street Wharf, where participants will conduct the Tossing of Flowers in the river in memory of service personnel lost at sea. At 8:15, the American Legion conducts exercises at the Town Common, State and Church streets. Parade begins from the Common at 8:30 and heads west on State Street to Water Street, north on Water Street to Main Street, where the parade will stop at the North Burial Ground and "Taps" will be played. The parade then continues south on Main Street to Sowamsett Avenue, east on Sowamsett Avenue to the South Burial Ground, where exercises will be held.

Warwick. Parade starts at Bishop Hendricken High School, 2615 Warwick Ave., at 9:30 am, to Warwick Veterans Memorial High School, 2401 West Shore Rd., and ends at the Veterans Park on the school grounds.

Westerly. Parade 9:30 am from behind the Pawcatuck Shopping Center, down West Broad Street in Pawcatuck after a short ceremony at the World War I monument at West Broad Street and Pequot Trail, make a stop at the Pawcatuck River bridge, where flowers will be cast into the river, and then travel Main Street and Union Street in Westerly, continuing up High Street and into Wilcox Park, Broad Street, where it will conclude with the main ceremonies.

Westport. Parade at 10 am begins at Town Hall, 816 Main Rd., and ends at Beech Grove Cemetery for a wreath-laying ceremony and prayers. Refreshments will be served after the final ceremonies.

Woonsocket. Parade begins at 10 am at Cumberland and Clinton streets and ends at River Island Park, Bernon Street. A monument dedication will be held in River Island Park at the end of the parade. A collation will be held at St. Joseph Veterans Association, 99 Louise St., from noon to 5 pm.
