Oh geez, not another meeting story
You have another damn meeting to cover:
Promise yourself you'll spend 30 minutes the same day working on an idea for a story you would love to do. Or give yourself some other treat. Life's not just your job.
Look for the most interesting person there and include him or her in some way.
Pre-report the meeting. Determine what will be the key issues and talk to the main sources beforehand. Before the meeting, go with a photographer to the neighborhood that's going to get zapped by a zone change, get some pictures and quotes, and write the bottom of the story before the meeting. Get the decision in the lead, top off the story and you'll look smart in the morning.
