Kristen Roberti and Stephen Buco
St. Dominic Chapel, Providence College
8.9.03
Setting: A stunning afternoon on the campus of Providence College, the location where the couple first laid eyes on each other.
That's how the wedding celebration of Kristen Roberti and Stephen Buco is introduced in the program distributed to each guest who enters St. Dominic Chapel.
The two started dating when she was a sophomore at PC. Kristen's roommate dated one of Stephen's childhood friends. Stephen was attending Rhode Island College but always hung out with his PC friends.
"So why not return to Providence College to exchange our wedding vows?" says Kristen, who, with her PC marketing degree, now works in pharmaceutical sales. "I met five of my closest girlfriends there -- they are all in the wedding. And my father and sister are both alumni."
Just for fun, Kristen and Stephen have created a program that reads like a playbill:
A One Day Performance Only
Cast of Characters (in order of appearance)
They have included short clever bios of each member of their wedding party. In doing so, they reveal much about themselves as well.
We learn that the bride worked at LaSalle Bakery, that she's into fashion, shopping, that she was a cheerleader at North Providence High School.
And the groom is a mortgage loan officer who likes rock concerts, the Boston Red Sox, and blackjack.
Here's a sampling of the bios:
Jason Buco (Best Man) -- Jay always manages to get tickets to outdoor rock concerts. Whether it is Aerosmith, Poison, or Metallica, these two cousins are always ready to party on the lawn together.
Kimberly Maglione (Bridesmaid #6) -- Kim has been friends with Kristen since high school, when they were cheerleaders together. Now they spend their days at the beach and nights going out to dinner -- talking about fashion trends.
Quite a lot to read, since Kristen and Stephen have 10 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen. The guest list, proportionately large, is almost 300. "His, mostly friends, mine, mostly family!" says Kristen.
