URI women win first game of double-header

SOUTH KINGSTOWN -- Megan Shoniker scored a career-high 29 points to lead the URI women's basketball team to a 60-53 nonconference win over Holy Cross last night at the Ryan Center.
Shoniker was 7-for-7 in the first half, when she scored 19 points. She finished the game 11-for-16 from the field.
