THE SCOUTING REPORT
MASSACHUSETTS (9-6, 4-1 Atlantic 10): Minutemen begin what could be a pivotal three-game road trip . . . Under first-year coach Travis Ford, the team has developed faster than many expected. Going with only eight scholarship players and only three returnees from last year, the Minutemen have been great at home. They are 7-0 at the Mullins Center, 1-5 on the road and 1-1 at neutral sites . . . The only conference loss was a two-pointer at Saint Louis. Best victory was a 60-34 rout of Temple Saturday . . . Center Rashaun Freeman remains key player. He is 13th in A-10 in scoring, second in rebounding and second in field-goal percentage . . . Lowe, a freshman, has come on strong at point guard. He is fifth in conference in assists and is this week's A-10 rookie of the week. Life is a junior-college transfer . . . Lasme is third in the nation in blocked shots.
URI (10-6, 4-1): Rams are off to best A-10 start in three years . . . Robinson, the A-10 co-player of the week last week, is averaging 18.2 points in conference play, tops in the league. Robinson is up to 1,077 career points, which ties him for 40th on the school's all-time list with Dave Stenhouse . . . In conference play, Rams have a plus-3.4 rating in rebounding. The only team better is UMass, at plus-7 . . . Bitee has made 13 of 14 free throws in the last five games . . . Wise has had three double-doubles . . . Seawright continues to impress with his court sense. He has the best turnover-to-assist ratio on the team, 24-9.
