Can you tell us who sings the song on the Docker commercial “I Want a Sunday Kind of Love”?
That would be the great Etta James, also known for her much-played rendition of “At Last.” No music collection should be without her. Mine sure isn’t.
What TV shows had the production company logo of a black dog and the words “Sit, Ubu, sit” at the end of the show?
A bunch. That was the logo of Gary David Goldberg’s Ubu productions, whose shows included Family Ties, Spin City, Day by Day, Brooklyn Bridge and The Bronx Zoo. According to TV-history site TV Acres ( www.tvacres.com), Ubu Roi was a black Labrador retriever owned by Goldberg; the dog died in 1984.
Can you tell me what happened to Scare Tactics? Will it be returning in the fall? Are any of the seasons on video?
Sci Fi is no longer airing the show. I do not know of a commercial release on video.
I love HGTV’s Design on a Dime, but wondered if Lee Snijders, Charles Burbridge and Summer Baltzer will have any new programs. Since Summer had her baby, there have been no new programs with her on them, and only a few with Lee and Charles. By the way, was Summer’s baby a boy or a girl?
“There are now three Design on a Dime teams — two in Los Angeles and one in Chicago,” said an HGTV representative. “All air at different times. You will continue to see Lee, Summer and Charles in rotation.” And that includes episodes that have not aired before.
Also, according to www.summerbaltzer.com, she has a son.
Can you please tell us if Jake on the old show Becker is really blind?
Alex Desert, who played Jake on the Ted Danson sitcom, is not blind. But he was so convincing, people keep wondering if he is.
My husband has never seen the half-hour TV show Bosom Buddies with Tom Hanks and ?? Scolari. Any way we can get a video or DVD? Does it ever show up on any of the reruns?
TBS was replaying Bosom Buddies but is not doing so now. Nor could I find any other telecasts of it.
Although an official DVD release has been expected for years, it has not happened yet; I have seen a set for sale on eBay but cannot vouch for its quality or source.
Some episodes were released on VHS and can still be found for sale here and there.
And that was Peter Scolari, who went on to co-star on Newhart, the TV version of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, and other shows — as well as playing a small role in the Hanks-directed movie, That Thing You Do.
