WARWICK — Work doesn’t stop for the construction crews volunteering their time for the ABC series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Crews have been working around the clock, said Eric Johnson, president of Oldport Homes in Portsmouth, the primary builder of the house.
By now, crews working on the Silva family’s Yucatan Drive home have begun installing the trim on the first floor of the newly built house, he said. Yesterday alone, the crews framed the house, installed the shingled roof and completed the plumbing and electrical work throughout. Insulation and drywall were installed, and landscapers began their work.
The show chooses a deserving family, demolishes their house and rebuilds it in a week. The Silvas will see their new home for the first time on Monday after construction is completed.
