Matunuck’s Theatre by the Sea opened its 75th season this week with Ain’t Misbehavin’, the musical revue based on music written and made famous by jazz great Thomas “Fats” Waller, who rose to international fame during the golden age of the Cotton Club and the Harlem Renaissance of the 1930s.
The show, which won a Tony in 1978 when it opened on Broadway, contains such hits as “Honeysuckle Rose,” “The Joint is Jumpin’,” “Mean to Me” and “Black and Blue.”
Broadway veteran Ken Leigh Rogers directs this production.
The show, which runs through June 15, opened in previews yesterday and starts regular performances tomorrow night at the landmark theater, 364 Card’s Pond Rd., Matunuck. Tickets are $35 for tonight’s preview performance, and $39-$49 for all other shows. Call (401) 782-8587.
