No question the holiday season is under way. Tomorrow is Black Friday, and if you stop over at Trinity Rep, you can catch the theater’s annual production of A Christmas Carol this weekend. This year the theater has turned the Dickens classic over to director Liesl Tommy, a Trinity Conservatory graduate, who promises lots of flying ghosts and plenty of snow.

She called it an “explosion of Christmas.”

Alternating in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, the miserly businessman who is visited by three spirits on Christmas Eve, are Joe Wilson Jr. and Mauro Hantman. Children under 14 can attend the show for $10. Call (401) 351-4242.

Meanwhile, Westerly’s Granite Theatre opens its Christmas Carol tomorrow night at 8 with its artistic director, David Jepson, in the role of Scrooge. Show up at the 2 p.m. matinee Saturday and Sunday with the kids, and you can meet Santa. Tickets are $18, $15 for those 62 and older and $11 for children under 12. Call (401) 596-2341.

And in Boston, the musical version of Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas is playing the Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theater this weekend. Icelandic stage actor Stefan Karl, who is best know for playing Robbie Rotten on the Nickelodeon television show LazyTown, stars as The Grinch

The Grinch has broken box office attendance records for two consecutive years on Broadway during limited holiday engagements.

Tickets are $78 to $28. Call (866) 348-9738.
