Trinity Rep radio to perform before live audience

01:00 AM EDT on Friday, June 26, 2009

Trinity Rep tapes its popular radio hour on WRNI before a live audience on Aug. 6. The special live episode is a fundraiser for the radio series, and will take place at 6 p.m. at the Jane Pickens Theatre, 49 Touro St., Newport. Tickets are $50.

Featured will be the talents of company members Stephen Berenson, Janice Duclos, Phyllis Kay and Joe Wilson, Jr., alongside Trinity artistic director Curt Columbus.

“Since we first started broadcasting Trinity Rep Radio Theater three seasons ago, we have always wanted to have an opportunity to perform our shows for a live audience, to get their real-time feedback and questions, to make them a living part of the show,” said Columbus.

“Now we have a chance to realize this dream broadcast in Newport, while raising money to support Trinity Rep Radio Theater in the coming season.”

The actors will be reading and discussing excerpts from Thornton Wilder’s beloved portrait of Newport, Theophilus North.

The show is then slated to air on WRNI radio (1290 AM Providence, 1230 AM Westerly, and 102.7 FM Narragansett) Sept. 3 at 8 p.m., Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. and Sept. 5 at 11 a.m.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.trinityrep.com, by phone at (401) 351-4242, or at the Trinity Rep box office, 201 Washington St., Providence.
