Presumably FirstWorks, the Providence public-private organization devoted to promoting and celebrating performance art, pulled some strings. All we know is a two-part puppet film festival is coming to Providence.
On Thurdsay at 7 and 9:30 p.m., Handmade Puppet Dreams will be screened at RISD Memorial Hall, 266 Benefit St. And after each performance, Heather Henson, the daughter of the late Jim Henson, who created the Muppets, will lead a discussion about puppets in films.
The second part of the film festival, which is intended for children, is May 16 at 6 p.m. in the Providence Children’s Museum, 100 South St. Admission to both events, which feature a collection of short films, is free. For more information, visit www.firstworksprov.org or call (401) 421-4278.
