Let the sunbathing and bodysurfing begin
01:00 AM EDT on Thursday, May 22, 2008

Let the sunbathing and bodysurfing begin. This weekend is the official start of the beach season. While the state opened its beaches on weekends two weeks ago, from this weekend on the beaches are open daily, with lifeguards on duty 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day.
So plant your family flag, umbrella or big beach towel. With more than 400 miles of shoreline, you’ve got a large pick of places, from fresh water to salt water, secluded to crowded.
Here we present a listing of public beaches with useful information and descriptions of each.
