Casey feeling better, but still not ready to play
07:40 AM EDT on Friday, August 29, 2008
NEW YORK -- Red Sox manager Terry Francona reported yesterday that backup first baseman Sean Casey is feeling better after a bout of neck stiffness. Casey will be examined by a team physician today in Boston for precautionary reasons.
“His personality is OK,” joked the manager. “His neck is not so good.”
Casey said after yesterday’s game that his neck was slowly getting better, but he just can’t figure out why it’s taking so long. He’s hoping to wake up one morning and it will be gone. He also said he doesn’t think he’ll need to go on the disabled list.
