Jan Gregory, Dog Notes: Rehoboth spaniel wins Minnesota show

Ch. Game-Crk Waterways Kylends Joyia CDX RE NA, an American Water spaniel owned by Avis Prior of Rehoboth, was named Best of Breed at the American Water Spaniel national specialty show in Alexandria, Minn. Her housemate, Ch. Game-Crk Waterways Kylends L C Mary CDX RE NA qualified in the Hunting Roustabout, where she was handled by Ralph Baker, also of Rehoboth.
RISPCA benefit
The Rhode Island SPCA is holding a benefit wine tasting event on Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Marriott Renaissance Providence Hotel, 5 Avenue of the Arts, Providence.
The event is being sponsored by ViniPortugal and guests will sample wines from 30 different wineries from Portugal. Tickets are $25. All of the proceeds from the event will benefit the RISPCA.

CGC class
Babbling Brook Farm is holding a five-week Canine Good Citizen class beginning next Monday . The test will be during the fifth class.

Training class
•The K9 Connection is holding drop-in rally run-throughs Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. Drop-in agility run-throughs are held Fridays at 7:30 p.m.

•The Canine Training Center, 71A Wheaton Ave., Rehoboth, will hold drop-in rally classes Mondays at 6 p.m., followed by advanced obedience classes at 7:30.
On Saturdays at 10:30 a.m., beginner/puppy obedience classes will be held.

• The Key Dog Training Club of Rhode Island is holding novice and open obedience classes every Tuesday at 3 p.m., followed by beginner and puppy classes at 5:30 and 6:30, open and utility at 7:15, and novice rally at 8. Classes are held at Rocky Hill Grange, 1340 South County Trail, East Greenwich.
