Obedience Training Club elects president

James Ashton was elected president and AKC delegate of the Obedience Training Club of Rhode Island at the organization’s recent meeting.
Also seated were Claudia Pimental, vice president; Priscilla Drury, training director and secretary; Regina Correa-Murphy, treasurer; and Cailin Monahan, public relations.
Named to the board of directors were John Rock, Linda Leonardo, Ray Mitchell, Cathy Healy and Linda Petersen.
Fundraiser
West Warwick Angels and West Warwick Volunteer Services for Animals will hold a fundraiser to benefit animals at the shelter on July 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 4 to 9 p.m. at Papa Ginos, 700 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick.
Papa Gino’s will donate 20 percent of the total pre-tax sales from all guests who bring in a flier from the animal shelter during the fundraiser.

Training classes
•Obedience Training Club of Rhode Island will start beginner, rally and Canine Good Citizen classes on July 16 at the American Legion Post 79, 44 Central St., Central Falls. For information, call (401) 231-4709.
•Beginner agility classes are being held on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. at Woodwind Farm in Cranston. For information, call (401) 323-0452.
•South County Kennel Club and Delmyra Country Club for Dogs will hold a one-hour breed-handling class on Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m. at Delmyra, 191 Ten Rod Rd., Exeter. Instructor is Tony Raposo.
•Drop-in breed handling classes with Karen Manchester are being held on Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Cozy Paws Pet Resort & Training Center, Route 3, Exeter. For information, call (401) 397-6198.
•The K9 Connection is starting Attention and Handling for Competition classes on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. starting July 21. Basic obedience classes start July 27 at 11:30 a.m.
Drop-in breed handling classes with AKC judge Pamela Deleppo are held Thursdays at 7 p.m.; drop-in agility run-throughs every Friday at 7:30 p.m.; drop-in competition obedience classes and run-throughs Mondays at 7:30 p.m.; drop-in heeling classes Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and drop-in heeling classes followed by run-throughs Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

•The Canine Training Center, 71A Wheaton Ave., Rehoboth, will hold drop-in rally classes Mondays at 6 p.m., followed by advanced obedience classes at 7:30.
Breed-handling and junior-showmanship classes will be held Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., followed by beginner/puppy obedience classes at 7:30.
On Saturdays at 10:30 a.m., beginner/puppy obedience classes will be held.

•The Key Dog Training Club of Rhode Island is holding novice and open obedience classes every Tuesday at 3 p.m., followed by beginner and puppy classes at 5:30 and 6:30, open and utility at 7:15, and novice rally at 8.
Classes are held at Rocky Hill Grange, 1340 South County Trail, East Greenwich.
