•WHAT: Amica Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island

•WHEN: Tomorrow , 6 a.m.

•HOW FAR: 1.2-mile swim at Roger Wheeler State Beach, Narragansett; 56-mile bike heading out from the beach and traveling through North Kingstown, Exeter, West Greenwich, Coventry, Scituate, Johnston and Providence, finishing at the State House; 13.1-mile run consisting of two loops of a course that travels through downtown Providence and the East Side and finishes in front of the State House and Providence Place mall.

•WHAT’S ON THE LINE: Professional prize purse of $25,000 and 50 qualifying slots for pro and age group athletes to the 2008 Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 on Nov. 8 in Clearwater, Fla.

•COMPETITORS TO WATCH: The professional field includes Oscar Galindez, three-time winner of Ironman Brazil and runner-up at last year’s Ford Ironman World Championship 70.3. He has also won Ironman 70.3 Pucon four times and holds several other top-five finishes in various Ironman 70.3 events.

Lisa Bentley from Ontario, Canada boasts six top-10 finishes at the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii and has won at least one Ironman event in each of the last five year.

Also among the pros will be Rhode Island native Terry Kerrigan. The Mount Pleasant High graduate, now 40 and living in New York City, has qualified for the Ironman World Championships four times.
