A Time to Die

1/15/97: Moments after the body is removed, Earley's Vietnam-veteran buddy, Reid Mendenhall, has placed Earley's 'Combat Wounded' license plate on the bed where for the last four months Mendenhall has tended him. Mendenhall was the friend who told Earley that, if asked, Mendenhall could not honor a request to kill Earley.
