They’re off and running
The girls’ championship race gets under way yesterday in the second annual New Balance Ocean State Cross Country Invitational held at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick. More than 5,000 middle school and high school runners, including teams from California and Virginia and a squad from Ireland, took part.

U.S. Olympians win men's and women's divisions at CVS Caremark Downtown 5K
PROVIDENCE - In her first race since winning a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics, Massachusetts runner Shalane Flanagan successfully defended her 5K national champion title when she won the CVS Caremark Downtown 5K yesterday

Flanagan's presence adds luster to CVS Caremark 5K
Shalane Flanagan, winner of Sunday's CVS Caremark Downtown 5K, agreed to return to Providence to defend her 5K national championship before winning a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics.
