Senate District 20 Polling Places

01:00 AM EDT on Friday, March 14, 2008

The Cumberland and Woonsocket Boards of Canvassers have announced polling places and hours for the special Senate District 20 primary on Tuesday. There are three candidates, all Democrats, running for the seat left vacant by the death of Sen. Roger Badeau: Rosina L. Hunt, of 68 Hamlet Ave., Woonsocket, who is a former probate judge and associate municipal court judge; current state Rep. Roger A. Picard, of 764 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket, who represents House Dist. 51; and Thomas Scully, of 66 Beamis Ave., Cumberland, who has served on the Cumberland School Committee and Cumberland Town Council.

Officials have explained that, because there are no Republican candidates, the winner of the Democratic primary will be the only candidate listed on the ballot for the April general election.

In Cumberland, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Voters from Precinct 0801, Cumberland High School, will vote with voters from Precinct 0812, Northern Town Garage, at the garage, 66 Nate Whipple Highway.

Voters in Precinct 0802, Flat Street Housing, will vote at Flat Street Housing, 1 Flat St., Community Room.

Voters in Precinct 0803, John J. McLaughlin School, will vote with voters from Precinct 0804, Cumberland Hill Fire Station, at the fire station, 3502 Mendon Rd.

Voters in Precinct 0811, Diamond Hill Ski Lodge West, will vote at the ski lodge, 4125 Diamond Hill Rd.

In Woonsocket, seven polling places will be combined into four sites for this election. Polls open at 8 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.

In voting District 1, Crepeau Court, 100 Front St., will be one polling site.

In voting District 2, No. 2 Fire Station, 5 Cumberland Hill Rd., will also be the polling place for voters from Woonsocket Senior High School.

In voting District 3, the Chief Landry No. 4 Fire Station, 806 Mendon Rd., will also handle voters from the Leo A. Savoie School.

In voting District 4, Morin Heights Hall, 66 Morin Heights Blvd., will also be the polling place for voters from the Governor Pothier School.

Only voters who are registered to vote in the above polling locations are eligible to vote in the special primary.
