Bishop Hendricken High School will hold a memorial soccer match today in honor of Marine Lance Cpl. Eric Valdepenas, a 2003 Hendricken graduate, who was killed last Sept. 5 in Iraq.
A memorial soccer game in honor of Marine Lance Cpl. Eric Valdepenas, who was killed last Sept. 5 in Iraq’s Anbar province, will be held today, May 18, at 6 p.m. at Bishop Hendricken High School, Warwick. Valdepenas was a 2003 graduate of Hendricken, where he played on the lacrosse team; his player number will be retired during a halftime ceremony. Admission is $4, with the proceeds going to the Eric Valdepenas Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Tryouts for the 2008 Rhode Island Firefighter Calendar for Charity will be held today, May 18, at 7 p.m. at Boston Billiards, Lambert Lind Highway, Warwick. Firefighters from throughout the state are eligible to audition. Proceeds from the sale of the calendars will benefit Habitat for Humanity. For more information, call (401) 228-8123.
Ocean State Harley-Davidson, 5 Albany Rd., Wawrick, will host the 2007 Harley’s Heroes Tour tomorrow, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Disabled American Veterans’ Mobile Service Offices will provide benefits counseling to veterans who suffer from service-related injuries. Power-Fest 2007, a fundraising wrestling exhibition by Power League Wrestling, will be held Sunday, May 20, at 5 p.m. at the West Warwick Civic Center, 100 Factory St., West Warwick. The wrestlers on the card are Jason “the Slasher” vs. Chris Blackheart, Gary Apollo vs. Mr. Wrestling 4, and Dr. Heresy vs. Amazin’ Jay. (Card subject to change.) WWE Hall of Famer “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas will put in an appearance. Admission is $8. Proceeds will be donated to the West Warwick Police Explorers program.

There will be free walking tours of the Knight Estate on the property of the Community College of Rhode Island, Knight Campus, East Ave., Warwick, every Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. through June. The estate was a former gentleman’s farm dating back to the mid-19th century. Buildings that are still on the property include a cider mill, greenhouse, water tower, carriage house and barn, corncrib, box stalls, tack room, and a hen house. The farm operated until 1964 when it and surrounding land was deeded to the state for the community college. To take the tour, go to the Knight Estate Visitors Center, 486 East Ave.
The Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market will be held every Saturday this summer from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, off Broad Street, Cranston. There will be only hanging plants, seedlings, and limited vegetables until mid- to late-June when locally grown vegetables are ready.
Sargent Center will hold its 17th-annual benefit golf tournament on Monday, June 4, at the Quidnessett Country Club, 950 North Quidnessett Rd., North Kingstown. There will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

The third-annual Phred’s Drug Mini Golf Charity Classic will be held Sunday and Monday, June 17 and 18, at Mulligan’s Island, Cranston. The professional 72-hole tournament will be held on June 17. The entry fee is $50. The amateur tournament will be held on June 18 beginning at 6:15 p.m. The play will be 18 holes, team best ball format, with teams of four players. The entry fee is $100.
