Granite Theatre: My Fair Lady opens tomorrow and runs through Nov. 16 at Westerly’s Granite Theatre, 1 Granite St.
Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18, $15 for senior citizens and $11 for children. For reservations, call 596-2341.
Westerly show: An all-members’ show will run through Oct. 25 at the Artist’s Cooperative Gallery of Westerly, 12 High St., Westerly.
Much of the show’s work will feature the environmental theme of “Going Green.” Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
Art stroll: Westerly’s monthly art stroll runs from 5 to 8 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month, when downtown studios and galleries are open to the public.
Westerly Band: The Westerly Band rehearses each Wednesday night from 7:30 to 9:30 at the Westerly Armory. For more information, call Hope Benn at 596-9224.
South Kingstown
URI Theatre production: The University of Rhode Island Theatre will present Small Tragedy, which follows six young people as they discuss justice, denial and the acceptance of responsibility while rehearsing an adaptation of Oedipus Rex, in the Robert E. Will Theatre of the Fine Arts Center, 105 Upper College Rd., Kingston.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. tonight through Saturday and Oct. 16 through 18; and at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 12 and 19. Tickets are $14, $10 for seniors, URI faculty/staff, and $8 for students.
Sleeping Beauty: The Courthouse Center for the Arts, on Route 138 in West Kingston, will present Center Stage Theater’s production of Sleeping Beauty, tomorrow and Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.; and Saturday and Oct. 18 at 2 and 7 p.m. Admission is $15, $12 for senior citizens, $12 for members, and $10 for students; a group rate discount of 15 percent, plus one free ticket, is available. URI Chorus: The University of Rhode Island’s University Chorus rehearses Tuesday from 7 to 9:45 p.m., through April, not including school vacations, in Room C-100 of the Fine Arts Center, on the Kingston campus. It is open to community members as well as URI students, faculty and staff; auditions are not required, but singers should be able to match pitches and follow their parts on a musical score. Wakefield Civic Band: The Wakefield Civic Band rehearses each Monday night at 7 at South Kingstown High School, 215 Columbia St., Wakefield. For information, call 294-7101.
Wakefield Chorus: The Wakefield Chorus rehearses at Peace Dale Elementary School, on Kersey Road, Peace Dale, each Tuesday and Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 783-6110.
Hera shows: The Hera Gallery, 327 Main St., Wakefield, presents “Troy West: Portraits, a Six-Decade Retrospective.” It ends tonight.
Hera also presents “Hera On The Road,” a group exhibition featuring artwork by member artists Alexandra Broches, Linda Denosky-Smart, Cynthia Farnell, Claudia Flynn, Jeannette Jacobs, John Kotula, Jill McLaughlin, Barbara Pagh, Caroline Pyle, Roberta Richman, Myron Rubenstein, and Troy West, at the Meeting Room Gallery at Bagelz, 90 Pershing Ave., Wakefield. It will run through Nov. 1.
Art association show: The South County Art Association, 2587 Kingstown Rd., Kingston, will host its members’ invitational show through Oct. 18, with an opening night reception from 7 to 9.
Featured artists are Al Albrektson, Audrey Bourbonnais, Joe Gouveia, Marguerite Delucia Hall, Astrid Menatian, Erin Menatian, John Mitchell, Sheila O’Malley, Beverly Thomas and Eric Wertheimer. Gallery hours are 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.
Education exhibit: “Education for All: Schools and Schooling in South Kingstown, 1780-1920” is an exhibit featuring photographs, books, documents and artifacts from the collections of the Pettaquamscutt Historical Society, on display at the Old Washington County Jail, Route 138, Kingston, through Oct. 16.
The exhibit documents the establishment of a public school system in South Kingstown, through the 18th and 19th centuries. Call 783-1328 for more information.
Art association classes: The South County Art Association offers a variety of classes, including painting, photography, figure drawing, pottery and jewelry making, this fall at the Helme House, 2587 Kingstown Rd., Kingston. For information, call 783-2195.
Recreation department classes: The South Kingstown Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of art classes, for children, teens and adults, through its “Access to Art” division. For information, call 789-9301.
North Kingstown
Wickford show: The Wickford Art Association’s October “Artist Member Show” features Donna St. Amant, Jerome Doyle and Albert Scartabello, tomorrow through Oct. 29, with an opening reception Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Choir rehearsals open: The choir of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is open to high school students and adults, and rehearses at the church, 55 Main St., Wickford, Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday at 10 a.m., prior to the morning service. Choral rehearsals: The North Kingstown Community Chorus rehearses each Tuesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Forest Park Elementary School, 50 Woodlawn Drive, North Kingstown. The group’s Youth Chorus rehearses from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., also at the school. For information, call 294-3003.
Lafayette Band: The Lafayette Band rehearses every Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m., except summer, at the North Kingstown High School Band Room, 150 Fairway Drive, North Kingstown. New musicians are welcome. Information is available at www.lafayette-band.com.
Exeter
Native American exhibit: Exeter’s Tomaquag Museum, 390 Summit Rd., is hosting an exhibit, “The Pursuit of Happiness: An Indigenous View.”
The exhibit was developed in response to the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities’ call for proposals looking at the Declaration of Independence’s claim of every American having the “inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” It is a collaborative effort between Narragansett tribal leaders, Tomaquag Indian Memorial Museum professionals, historians and educators, who share their views on the notion of what happiness is today for the indigenous people of Rhode Island.
Also on view is a special exhibit titled “Promoting Dialogue: Lessons Learned From Ellison ‘Tarzan’ Brown.” Brown, a Narragansett Indian, won the Boston Marathon in 1936 and 1939, and competed in the 1936 Olympics. For information, call 491-9063 or 364-7773.
Charlestown
Library exhibit: Works by Victoria Kingsbury are in display at the Cross’ Mills Public Library, 4417 Old Post Rd., Charlestown, through October.
Jamestown
Rehearsals in Jamestown: The Jamestown Community Chorus rehearses each Monday at 7 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. There are no auditions.
The group is looking for children age 8 to 16 to be part of its children’s chorus for a December concert. Rehearsals will run from 6:30 to 7:15 selected Mondays between Oct. 6 and Dec. 14.
