Warwick teacher wins award

Winman Junior High School teacher Thalia Wood is the Rhode Island History Day Teacher of Merit. A resident of Charlestown, Wood has taught in the Warwick school system for more than 19 years. Currently she chairs the social studies department at Winman.
Under her guidance, a number of Warwick students have successfully competed in National History Day contests and many others have been recipients of special awards at the state level. Wood has been nominated for the PBS Teacher of Merit Award at the national competition to be held in June in Maryland.
