Tiverton: The Business of Art
01:00 AM EST on Tuesday, January 13, 2009
TIVERTON - The Sakonnet Arts Network, a Tiverton-based nonprofit organization, will host a gathering of artists and friends to discuss The Business of Art Jan. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 1956 Main Rd.
The event, which will be free and open to the public, will feature Dorothy Bocian, a freelance business consultant who specializes in marketing of the arts. Sharing success stories of the artists she has worked with over the past 18 years, Dorothy will reveal what it takes for artists to “make it” in the art world. Topics for discussion include process and product, assembling a portfolio, creative sales opportunities, publicity/promotion, and creating an image.
There will be time to meet and greet other attendees beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the presentation at 6. A question and answer session will give audience members the opportunity to ask about solutions to career challenges they are currently facing.
The Sakonnet Arts Network promotes the arts by providing programs, resources and educational opportunities in Tiverton and surrounding communities. For more information about the Network, please visit www.SakonnetArts.org.
