Tiverton motorcyclist hurt in crash

TIVERTON — A motorcyclist was injured Sunday when he lost control of his bike on Stafford Road and it struck a fire hydrant, throwing him several feet into a wooded area.
Raymond St. Laurent, 44, of 580 Hyland Rd., was traveling north about 5:38 p.m. Sunday when his motorcycle went off the road, continued in the breakdown lane for a short distance and then struck a hydrant at Fairwood Drive, according to Deputy Chief Nicholas Maltais.
St. Laurent was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of a head injury. He was reported in fair condition last night.
