Candidate asks for recount
01:00 AM EST on Tuesday, November 14, 2006
TIVERTON — The eighth-ranked candidate in the race for seven seats on the Town Council has asked for a recount of the ballots from last Tuesday’s election.
Arthur R. Wyman Jr., who was six votes behind Paul E. Carroll after mail ballots were included in the tally, has asked the state Board of Elections to check the totals, Town Clerk Nancy Mello said yesterday.
Workers are awaiting a call from the state to take the ballots from Town Hall to Providence for the recount, said Mello, who expects that to happen today or tomorrow.
