Bird walks: Mary Jo Murray and Phil Budlong lead free bird walks each Tuesday, leaving from the Charlestown Mini-Super, on Route 1A in Charlestown, at 8 a.m. For information, call 783-9191.
Through May, Fisherville Brook Wildlife Refuge, on Pardon Joslin Road in Exeter, will be the site of 8 a.m. bird walks each Friday, while West Kingston’s Marion Eppley Wildlife Sanctuary hosts bird walks each Thursday at 7:30 a.m. Fees are $5 for non-members of the Audubon Society, free for members; to register, call 949-5454.
Browning Mill Pond, in Exeter’s Arcadia Management Area, off of Route 165, will be the site of a bird walk tomorrow morning from 8 to 10. Fees are $5 for non-members of the Audubon Society, free for members; to register, call 949-5454.
Walter Berry and Wayne Munns will lead a bird walk at Gilbert Stuart Museum, 865 Gilbert Stuart Rd., Saunderstown, Saturday morning at 7. The two-hour walk was postponed from last week.
Reservations, at $5, are requested, and may be made by calling 294-3001.
Kayak/canoe clinic: The Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed Association is sponsoring a safe paddling clinic, led by Manny and Gary Point of Four Point Canoe Outfitters in Hope Valley and Greenville, Maine, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the association headquarters at the Barberville Dam, 203 Arcadia Rd., Hope Valley.
Participants age 12 and older, who must be able to swim, will receive basic safety and paddling instruction, and take a recreational paddle along the Wood River. Fees are $10 for members, $15 for others, and include kayaks; lunch will not be provided. To register, call 539-9017.
Beach walk: Robert Mowbray will lead an exploration of the shoreline along Charlestown’s East Beach, Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The rain date will be Sunday.
Fees are $12 for South Kingstown residents, $15 for others. To register, call the South Kingstown Parks and Recreation Department at 789-9301.
Salt Pond “safaris: The Salt Ponds Coalition is sponsoring a salt pond “safari” at Ninigret Park, on Route 1A in Charlestown, Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Additional sessions are scheduled for June 21, July 19, Aug.16, Sept. 20 and Oct. 18..
Jane Whyte, former education director of the Frosty Drew Nature Center, will lead participants in catching and releasing crabs, minnows, baby fish, shrimp and sandworms.
