Heartfelt thanks for scholarship help
It is difficult for me to adequately express my deep-felt appreciation to the multitude of people who supported and participated in the second annual Chad O’Brien Surf Competition in Narragansett on Aug. 8.
As a tribute to my late son, a truly wonderful group of Chad’s friends formulated the Chad O’Brien Surf Group and organized this competition in support of the Chad O’Brien Scholarship Fund, in his memory. The love, friendship and dedication manifested by the Chad O’Brien Surf Group will forever be an inspiration to my family, as well as the entire community who supported this competition. The event was an overwhelming success, and as I looked around the Narragansett Town Beach that beautiful day, I saw joy and happiness on the faces of all in attendance. Nothing could have made me happier.
To the many sponsors, surfers, volunteers and caring people who came together that day in support of what has been called “a happening,” please accept my heartfelt appreciation. Chad’s memory lives in our hearts forever, and the Chad O’Brien Surf Group and Scholarship Fund assure that his spirit continues.
Chad believed, and often said, “Nothing is impossible.” The generosity extended by the community will make possible the annual scholarship in Chad’s memory, and for that I am profoundly grateful.
