East Smithfield Public Library, 50 Esmond St., will host an Excel basic program, Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. Learn the basics of using Microsoft Excel 2003. This workshop will cover the Excel environment, simple formulas, and charts. Knowledge of using a computer is helpful.

Young adults in grades 5 and up are invited to join their friends for a night out at the library, Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m. The group will decorate gingerbread houses with an assortment of sweets. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring in anything else you want to use. Space is limited.
