Oktoberfest dinner: The Social Board at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 54 Cedar Swamp Rd., will host its annual Oktoberfest dinner tomorrow. Traditional German food will be served at two sittings at 4 and 6 p.m. The menu will include appetizers, soup and salad, sauerbraten, pork roast with sauerkraut, bratwurst, roast chicken, red cabbage, mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon, dessert and a beverage. The cost is $15 for adults; $7 for children ages 7 to 15; and free for children under age 7. For more information, or reservations, call (401) 232-7575.
Lifeguard training certification: The Smithfield YMCA will host a Lifeguard Training course on Oct. 15, 22, 29, Nov. 5, 12 and 19 from 5 to 9 p.m. The cost is $225 per person, and will include infant, child and adult CPR for the professional rescuer, first aid, AED (automated external defibrillator) Essentials and oxygen administration. Library Programs
East Smithfield Public Library, 50 Esmond St., will host a Halloween crafts and stories for children ages 4 to 10, Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Library board of trustees will meet Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.
An autumn craft for children in kindergarten to grade 5 will be held Oct. 9 from 4 to 5 p.m.
Music with Miss Holly will be held Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. for children ages 1 to 5.
A PhotoShop workshop will be held Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m.
An Art Workshop: Holidays of the World, for children ages 6 to 10, will be held Oct. 16 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
A Teen Read Café will be held Oct. 16 at 7:15 p.m. The program is for youths in grades 6 and up.
A Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia support group will meet Oct. 18 at 10:30 a.m.

Greenville Public Library, 573 Putnam Pike, will host a mystery book club meeting, Oct. 7 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The group will discuss At Risk by Patricia Cornwell. New members are welcome.
A Rhode Island Housing Homebuyer Education Class will be held Oct. 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. Registration is required.
The library will offer teens a chance to play with friends on a Nintendo Wii game each Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. The program is for middle and high school age young adults.
A representative from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Rhode Island will be at the library Oct. 14 from 1 to 2 p.m. to discuss Blue Chip for Medicare. The program is free and open to the public.
