Thrift shop: The thrift shop located at the rear of Greenville Baptist Church, 582 Putnam Pike, will be open today from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and tomorrow from 9:30 a.m. to noon, for a $5 a bag sale. Following the bag sale, the thrift shop will be closed for the summer and will open again on Sept. 5 and 6.
Sunset concert: The Village at Waterman Lake will present Music on the Hill its annual sunset concert series. The premiere engagement will be held Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. featuring Avenue A, performing a mix of jazz, swing and standards. Desserts and refreshments will be served. Chowder and clamcake supper: Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 54 Cedar Swamp Rd., will host a chowder and clamcake supper, June 27 at 6:30 p.m. This annual event is open to the public. Local Libraries
East Smithfield Public Library, 50 Esmond St., will host a book sale Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The library invites teens to design a T-shirt June 24 at 6:30 p.m. Participants must supply their own light-colored, pre-washed shirt.
A Welcome Summer story hour and craft program, will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon, for children age 5 to 12.
The Tuesday Night Book Club will meet Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Storyteller-singer Christopher “Kavi” Carbone will perform at the library June 27 from 1 to 1:45 p.m.
A Photoshop workshop for teens will be held July 1 at 6:30 p.m. Learn how to manipulate photos using Photoshop elements. For more information, call (401) 231-5150.
Greenville Public Library, 573 Putnam Pike, will hold registration for the summer reading program Catch the Reading Bug, for children ages 3½ to 10. The program includes storytellers, magicians, music, crafts, bedtime story times, book buddies, weekly drawing prizes, and incentive coupons. Registration begins June 30. The program will be held from June 30 to Aug. 15. Registration is required for all programs.
Dr. Hebert Curtis Jr. will be at library Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to present a health and stress lecture. Learn about the symptoms of stress, how stress affects the body’s overall health, and what a person can do to relieve stress. Registration is required.
The summer reading kickoff program with storyteller Christopher “Kavi” Carbone, will be held July 2 at 10:30 a.m. The show is for children age 4 to 10.
Teen volunteers are needed to team up with young readers on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2 to 3 p.m. Children ages 3½ to 8 may sign up to read with a teen weekly to earn reading credit towards incentives. Buddy session begin July 8 and continue through Aug. 12. Registration begins June 30.

American Legion Balfour-Cole Post 64 will meet Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Post Headquarters, 170 Pleasant View Ave. All members are urged to attend. New members are welcome.
