Smithfield town planner abruptly quits
01:00 AM EDT on Wednesday, June 25, 2008
SMITHFIELD — Daniel R. Janousek, town planning director for the past four months, has resigned, Town Manager Dennis G. Finlay announced yesterday.
Finlay said Janousek’s last work day was Thursday.
He declined to discuss Janousek’s reason for resigning, saying it was a personnel matter, but he said it was “by mutual agreement.”
Janousek, who was still on probation after his appointment, could not be reached.
Finlay said Janousek’s last job was in planning at the county level in Alexandria, Va.
A search for a replacement began Sunday with a newspaper advertisement, Finlay said.
The deadline for submitting job applications is July 7, “or until the job is filled,” the town manager said.
He said that job specifications were available on the town’s Web site, www.smithfieldri.com.
“We are hoping some local planning people would be interested,” Finlay said. He said candidates should apply to the human resources department at Town Hall, 64 Farnum Pike.
