PROVIDENCE – The police yesterday identified a man who was shot outside a restaurant on Eddy Street on Wednesday night.
The victim, Emmanuel Torres, 25, of Brockton, Mass., was at Rhode Island Hospital yesterday, but his condition was stable and he was not expected to suffer permanent injury, Providence police Capt. Hugh Clements said.
Clements said Torres was sitting in a van in the parking lot of El Principe restaurant, 1095 Eddy St., around 8 p.m. Wednesday when he was shot in the chest and torso through the van window.
The police impounded the van as evidence.
Clements declined to release further information about the shooting. He said the police had no suspect in custody last night, and were continuing to interview witnesses.
