Johnston man, 34, faces heroin count
01:00 AM EDT on Monday, June 1, 2009
PROVIDENCE — Two police officers who were checking out two men sitting on a bench in Burnside Park downtown say that they discovered them snorting heroin.
Patrolwoman Michelle Chasse and Patrolman Matthew Rampone approached the men shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday and asked them to account for their behavior. One of the men, who was identified as Joshua D. Vincent, 34, of 44 N. Fairview St., Johnston, had a small bag of heroin in his hand and a second small bag of heroin in a pants pocket, the police alleged.
Vincent was arrested and charged with illegal possession of drugs. In checking further, the police said they learned that there were outstanding arrest warrants for Vincent obtained by the police in Hopkinton and Westerly. He was held for arraignment in District Court Monday.
The second man was let go.
