Pawtucket man is shot in Westmninster lot

PROVIDENCE — The police are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital with a head wound late Monday night. Todd Faria, 32, of 422 Smithfield Ave., Pawtucket, was shot with a small-caliber weapon that left BB-size fragments in his head.
Faria told the police that he and his cousin, Jason Monteiro, 23, of 133 Francis St., Pawtucket, had been drinking at Finnegan’s Draft House at 397 Westminster St. in Downcity and were walking to a parking lot on Aborn Street when they were accosted by at least three men.
An argument erupted and one of the three shot him, according to Faria. He said he drove himself to Rhode Island Hospital. Told that someone with a gunshot wound was in treatment, the police went to the hospital at about 11:15 p.m.
According to the police, Monteiro’s account differed from Faria’s. Monteiro said they did not go to Finnegan’s and that Faria was shot in the parking lot when they got out of Faria’s car, which was parked in the lot on Aborn.
In another incident involving a firearm, gunshots were reported at about 9 p.m. Monday near Luna Street in the North End.
Patrolmen Matthew Goddard and Scott Zambarano spotted two men walking away from a Nissan Maxima and entering a house, and the officers shouted for them to halt. The men went inside and slammed the door, according to the officers. Goddard found a chrome pistol under the front tire.
The police forcibly entered the house and took two Providence men into custody. No charge immediately was filed against either man.
