Patio open: The outdoor patio at the Cape Verdean Progressive Center (CV Club) features food and entertainment every Thursday for the summer from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

Celebrations: The following Cape Verdean Independence Day celebrations are scheduled in Massachusetts:

•Saturday, July 26, Boston;

•Sunday, July 27, Brockton;

•Saturday, Aug. 9, Onset, Cape Cod.

Independence Day: The Cape Verdean Subcommittee of the R.I. Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission will present the 33rd annual Cape Verdean Independence Day Festival on Sunday from noon to dusk at the Temple to Music, Roger Williams Park.

Featured will be traditional music, dance and food, local and international artists, a cultural and health tent, arts & crafts exhibits and children’s activities.

Among performers will be Grace Evora and Johnny Fonseca, Maria de Barros, Djim Job, Rome, Ivo Pires, Joao Cerilo, ChaChi, Gau Salgad, Jacqui Dagraca, Ze Rui, Noah Andrade Kalu Montero, Gutty Duarte and DJ Larry Love.
