Two men rob bank on Elmgrove Avenue

PROVIDENCE — Two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, robbed the Sovereign Bank branch office at 131 Elmgrove Ave., at the intersection of Lloyd Avenue, on the East Side yesterday afternoon.
Police Sgt. James Marsland said two men entered the bank at about 3:30 p.m. One stood by the door with a handgun, and the second leaped over the teller counter and demanded money. The loss was not immediately determined.
The robbery was under investigation last night, as officers interviewed witnesses.
Nobody was hurt.
