Temple Beth-el: A healing service for those of all faiths who have been touched by AIDS will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Temple Beth-El Meeting Hall, 70 Orchard Ave.
Presented annually by AIDS Quilt RI and The AIDS Task Force of The Jewish Federation of Rhode Island, this is the second year both organizations have worked together to mark World AIDS Day.
This year’s theme is “Stop AIDS: Keep the Promise.” AIDS panels will be dedicated and on display during the service.

Christmas crèches display: Providence College will present a display of large Christmas creches in the Center for Catholic and Dominican Studies from Monday through Dec. 18 and from Jan 3 to 8, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The display is from a collection of Rev. Matthew D. Powell, associate professor in the department of theatre, dance and film. Father Powell is a recognized authority on the subject. Admission is free. For information, call (401) 865-2870.
Christmas bazaar: The St. Patrick Church/Maryhouse Ministry will hold its Christmas bazaar on Friday, Dec. 1, from 4 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 244 Smith St.

Carols service: Brown University’s lessons and carols service will be held Sunday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. in Sayles Hall, The College Green.
This holiday tradition features readings and music for the season. The University Chorus, directed by Frederick Jodry, and the University Brass, directed by Mark Steinbach, will offer works by Morales, Dering, Howells, Britten and Whitacre, and traditional carols.
Steinbach, the university organist, will perform on the 1903 Hutchings-Votey organ. Brown’s Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life and the Music Department are the sponsors.
The service is free. MercyCorps’ Darfur Project will receive this year’s free-will offering.
