PORTSMOUTH — A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a school bus on East Main Road yesterday afternoon. The 45 students on the bus were unhurt.
The police said the school bus was turning left onto East Main Road from President Avenue at 3:06 p.m. when the motorcycle, traveling north on East Main Road, struck it.
The motorcyclist, Mark Bissonnette, 48, of 24 Valhalla Drive, Portsmouth, was taken by a Tiverton rescue truck to St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, where he was pronounced dead.
Before the accident, the bus had picked up students at Hathaway Elementary School, the police said.
The driver and a bus monitor also were not injured, but were taken to the hospital as a precaution, the police said.
