Outdoor theatre performance: Mixed Magic Theatre presents the eighth annual Bard on the Blackstone featuring The Tempest at the Veterans Amphitheatre. Performances will be held Friday through Sunday at 8 p.m., and Aug. 1, 2, and 3. Tickets are $5. Bring a lawn chair. For more information, or reservations, call (401) 305-7333.
Wiffle Ball tournament: The fifth annual Fight for a Cure Wiffle Ball Tournament will be held Aug. 10, to benefit the Northern and Southern New England Chapter of the National Arthritis Foundation. Festivities begin at 9 a.m. at Slater Park with the singing of the National Anthem followed by the ceremonial first pitch by Pawtucket Mayor James Doyle. The tournament will feature a full day of competition, a home-run derby, food, music, and raffle prizes. Teams can register online by visiting www.wiffleman.com.
Pool open: Veterans Park Pool is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., until Aug. 14. The schedule is Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $1 for ages 13 and older and 50 cents for children ages 5 to 12. Call for entries: Pawtucket Arts Collaborative has announced a call for entries for its annual Open Juried Exhibit. Entries will be accepted from members as well as the general public. All media is accepted. Work may be submitted at the Collaborative office, 260 Main St., Aug. 15 and 16, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Submit actual artwork, no reproductions or slides. There is a $10 entry fee for one piece, or $20 for a maximum of three pieces per artist. For more information, visit www.pawtucketartscollaborative.org.
Charity tennis tournament: The Sahara Foundation Charity Tennis Tournament to benefit breast cancer research will be held Sept. 6 and 7 at Slater Memorial Park. The cost is $30, singles; and $15, doubles. The event will also include raffles, loot bags for each participant and trophies for finalists and winners. Library Programs
Pawtucket Public Library, 13 Summer St., will host Ronald McDonald’s Sunsational Reading Show, July 31 at 11:30 a.m.
An arcade afternoon featuring Dance, Dance Revolution and other interactive games, will be held Aug. 1 and 15 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The program is open to those entering grades 6 through college.
Students entering grades 6 through 12 are invited to join Club Anime. The group meets every other Monday from 3 to 4:15 p.m. in the library auditorium. Meetings will be held Aug. 4 and 18. Students watch anime and share their passion for Manga. The program is free, and no registration is needed.
A Teen Tuesdays craft program, open to students entering grades 6 through 12, will be held Aug. 12 from 3 to 4:15 p.m. The program is free, and no sign-up is needed.

Club Note
AARP 1192, Pawtucket Chapter’s board of directors will meet Aug. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Smithfield Avenue Congregational Church. The meeting is to discuss the slate of incoming officers and board of directors for the 2008-09 years. There will be no meeting in August. The next meeting will be held Sept. 3 in Lindh Hall.
