Community Events

Walk for Warmth: Slatersville Congregational Church, On the Common, will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of its Sunday school by hosting a three-mile “Walk for Warmth,” Nov. 2. The walk will begin at 12:30 p.m. A shorter route will be available for children and those with lesser stamina. Proceeds for the walk will benefit the Good Neighbor Energy Assistance Fund of Rhode Island. Walkers will be asked to raise pledges before the walk. Funds will be matched by Slatersville Congregational Church. A free lunch of soup and bread will be served at 11:30 a.m. in the church’s Glober Hall, and will conclude with refreshments. If you are attending the lunch, you are asked to RSVP by Oct. 22. Gently used coats and cans and nonperishable food item will be collected. Open house: The Villa at St. Antoine, an assisted-living community located at 400 Mendon Rd., will host an open house Oct. 17, 24 and 31 at 2 p.m. Tours of the facility, refreshments and entertainment will be offered. For more information, call (401) 767-2574.

Library Program

North Smithfield Public Library, 20 Main St., will host the next meeting of the Romance Novel Discussion Group, Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m. The group will discuss Music of the Night, by Lydia Joyce.
