Business after hours: Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce will host a business-after-hours networking event, Sept. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Banneker Industries, 582 Great Rd., Suite 101. Visitors will be treated to a Mardi Gras extravaganza with music, games, and Southern cuisine. The cost is $10 for chamber members who preregister; $15 for members at the door; and $25 for nonmembers. For more information, or to register, visit www.nrichamber.com.
Open house: The Villa at Saint Antoine, 400 Mendon Rd., an assisted-living community, will open its doors to the public Sept. 9 to 12 to celebrate Assisted Living Week. Tours will start at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call (401) 767-2574.
Pumpkin Festival: The Great Pumpkin Festival will be held Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the North Smithfield High School, rain or shine. Admission buttons are currently being sold at various locations throughout the town. Buttons are $1 before the event and $2 during the event. Buttons are available at Wrights Dairy Farm, Mundy’s, Brigidos, Village Paint, Gators, Pizzarelli’s, Beef Barn, Leeways, Memorial Town Hall, Elaine’s Flowers, North Smithfield Library, Lil’ General, Quik Stop Deli, Village Haven, Goodwin’s Farm Stand, The UPS Store, Carmella Coiffures, Clear Copy, Sunnycrest Market, and Branch Village Pool.
The Pumpkin Festival will feature vendors, a classic car show, live entertainers, and the great 1,000-pound pumpkin.

Library Programs
North Smithfield Public Library, 20 Main St., will resume Saturday hours, Sept. 6. Hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Local author and artist Michel Maoz, will sign copies and read a selection from her new book The Alien in Me: poetry by a person with Asperger’s Syndrome, Sept. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m.
