NORTH PROVIDENCE — A 21-year-old Lincoln man was charged Friday with buying alcohol for a minor after an undercover investigation by two patrol officers in the parking lot of Douglas Liquors at 1661 Mineral Spring Ave.

The officers said they became suspicious when they saw Michael Izzo, 20, of 6 Barbette Drive, look around nervously as he waited in his car while Richard Buckley, 21, of 24 Southwick Drive, Lincoln, went into the liquor store to buy a 30-pack of beer and a bottle of vodka.

The officers said that when they questioned them they determined that Izzo was planning to take the alcohol to a party in Woonsocket and had paid $50 to Buckley to purchase it for him.

The police said that Buckley had four large clear plastic bags in the pockets of his shorts, a digital scale and $461 in cash. He was charged with felony counts of purchasing alcohol for a minor and sale and distribution of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana. He was arraigned and ordered held at the Adult Correctional Institutions, while Izzo was issued a summons for possession of an alcoholic beverage by an underage person.

In other activity:

•Richard Lynch, 23, of 12 Gladstone St., Smithfield, was arrested Friday on charges of felony assault with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and simple assault stemming from a July 14 incident. The police said Lynch and two companions, Justin Girard, 25, and Christina Dellatorre, 20, allegedly confronted an acquaintance near the former Cher’s restaurant at 86 Waterman Ave. with demands that he give them marijuana in exchange for some pills they had allegedly given him earlier in the night.

The victim, whose name was not disclosed, told the police that Lynch emerged from the car and allegedly struck him in the head and back with a stick, while the other man punched him in the face and stomach.

Lynch was picked up by Johnston police on Saturday morning and later arraigned in District Court.

•Tara Anne Norcross, 28, of 903 Branch Ave., Providence, was charged with possession of marijuana after the police stopped her vehicle in the area of Smith Street and Capitol View Avenue on Friday for lack of an inspection sticker. She was released on cash bail and $1,000 personal recognizance.

•Eric Orabona, 32, of 19 Cinnamon Drive, Johnston, was charged Friday with stealing $74 from the CVS Pharmacy at 1905 Mineral Spring Ave. on Thursday. A clerk at the store said Orabona approached her at the pharmacy counter and asked for change for a $20 bill, and that when she opened the register, he took the money from the drawer and fled. The police said they were able to identify the suspect through a surveillance video and from other witnesses.

•On Sunday night, Guilio Lancellotta, 45, of 24 Olney Ave., was arrested on charges of assaulting his girlfriend at the same address.

•On Saturday, Tyrell Turner Jr., 30, of 850 Douglas Ave., Providence, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana following an argument at Sam’s Food Mart at 1700 Mineral Spring Ave. The police said they found a bag containing marijuana and 12 yellow pills in his pocket.

Bail was set at $200, with a court date on Aug. 4. Because he was wanted on two other warrants on undisclosed charges, he was taken to the ACI.
