Celebrating Independence Day: The Independence Day celebration in North Providence will be held Thursday at Governor Notte Park. Refreshments at the food court will be available at 6 p.m.

Live music by Nightlife Orchestra directed by Mark Bedrossian will provide entertainment from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The fireworks display starts at 9.

The rain date is Friday.

Waterplace Park: The City of Providence is hosting a concert at Waterplace Park on Friday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Carlos de Leon will perform.

Fox Point walking tour: The Rhode Island Historical Society is offering a walking tour, celebrating the Fourth of July and the life and patriotic works of Providence native George M. Cohan, as well as the Fox Point neighborhood in which he was born on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The tour begins at Reflections Café, 8 Governor St. The fee is $10 per person, RSVPs requested. The tour runs about an hour-and-a-half.

Meeting Street school: Parents seeking information on education, early childhood development and therapy for their children will find a valuable resource in the newly designed Meeting Street Web site. The new meetingstreet.org site features updated information, photos and videos showcasing the services and support programs the nonprofit agency offers. Web site design improvements also make it easier for people to donate online to Meeting Street.

Meetingstreet.org uses stories of children with and without disabilities enrolled in Meeting Street programs. Testimonials from Meeting Street parents are featured as well as details on Meeting Street’s staff of teachers, therapists and professionals. The site also provides information on the Meeting Street campus and updates on activities for the children and fundraising events.

Parents who go to meetingstreet.org can find enrollment information on the Bright Futures Learning Center for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Background on The Grace School, an inclusive K-8 grade school, and The Carter School, an education and life skills program for high school-age children, has been updated. Children needing specialized therapies will find information on physical, occupational, speech and sensory processing-disorder treatments offered at Meeting Street, 1000 Eddy St.
