‘Let’s get charged for trash pick-up!’
As usual, the mayor of Providence is trying to find a way to chase us hardworking citizens out of this fair city.
Let’s get charged for trash pickup! It ranks right up there with being charged for water runoff.
I think the amount of taxes I pay in this city should pay for my darn garbage.
I pay school taxes (with no children in school). I pay for better roads and bridges (let’s not go there). The city is unsafe during the day as well as at night. I’m paying for the courts to try an illegal who happens to be a rapist. Give me more!!
Now because the gas prices are so high and the mayor doesn’t have a clue on how to run this city, let me help out.
On side streets, instead of the garbage trucks going up one end and then going around and coming up the other end, why the heck don’t they do both sides at once? Oh, I know why, it would save gas, time and money! And don’t kid yourselves — if the excuse is that it blocks the street, half the time they block it anyway.
There is another way. Let’s all take our trash to City Hall. Then it can be picked up at one location.

We’ll be the first in line for new Barnsider
I just wanted to sadly acknowledge the closing of the Barnsider. It was truly a place where you knew you would get an excellent meal, at a reasonable price in the friendliest of atmospheres.
Anytime we had out-of-town guests, or just a couple of friends that wanted a nice meal out, it was our place of choice. Each and every one of our guests were treated as if they were regulars, and there were many return visits.
We even had our wedding reception there, and everyone said it was one of the nicest that they ever attended.
Such a shame that a successful business had to leave us over rental economics.
Thanks, Rob, Joe and all of our friends on the staff for the kindnesses and the great memories. Here’s hoping that Fred and the management team can find a new location soon. We’ll be the first in line.
