Blessing/seafood festival: The Narragansett Lions Club is sponsoring its 37th annual Blessing of the Fleet Saturday at noon in the Port of Galilee, and an accompanying seafood festival from noon to 11 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park, on Beach Street in Narragansett.
The event kicks off tomorrow with a 10-mile road race beginning and ending at Narragansett High School, 245 South Pier Rd. Walkers will set off at 5 p.m., followed by wheelchairs at 5:45 and runners at 6. Entry forms may be obtained from the Narragansett Chamber of Commerce, 783-7121 or at www.narragansettri.com/lions; they will also be available at the Narragansett Pier School, 235 South Pier Rd., the day of the race. Registration is $27 if made before July 25, and $30 that day.
The seafood festival will run from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. tomorrow, and features entertainment by Roger Ceresi’s All Stars. Performing Saturday will be the Newport Hibernian Bagpipers, from 3 to 5 p.m., and Steve Smith and the Nakeds from 6:30 to 10:30.
Book sale: The Jamestown Library’s annual book sale continues through Saturday, during library hours of 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday; noon to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Prices are $2 for hardcover books, $1 for paperbacks; and, for children’s books, $1 for hardcover and 50 cents for paperbacks. There are also specially priced books, including some of Jamestown and Rhode Island history.
Beginning today all books will be sold for $1.
Blueberry festival: Westerly’s Babcock-Smith House Museum, 124 Granite St., will be the site of a “Red, White & Blueberry” Festival Saturday,when, from 2 to 5 p.m., the 1734 house will host tours and demonstrations of scissor-art, quilting, quilling and rug-hooking, and serve blueberry desserts. Admission is $8.
