4 must-sees for July 4 weekend

The Fourth of July is tomorrow, but South County celebrations continue to Saturday:

• South Kingstown’s Old Mountain Field, 831 Kingstown Rd., Peace Dale, will be the site tomorrow of the town’s annual fireworks display, beginning at 9 p.m. and preceded by a family barbecue and children’s activities from 5 to 9. Admission to the fireworks is $1; for tickets to the barbecue, call the Neighborhood Guild at 789-9301.

• The Snug Harbor section of South Kingstown hosts an annual Fourth of July parade that includes musical groups as well as classic automobiles and fire apparatus. It steps off from the corner of Sherman and Periwinkle Roads at 6 p.m., passing a review stand in front of the Snug Harbor Marina before returning to Sherman Road. This year it will be led by the Snug Harbor Fire Department Color Guard, and will feature the Portuguese Independent Wind Ensemble, the South County Rod and Reel Precision Drill Team and the Ladies of the Harbor.

• North Kingstown’s Town Beach, 30 Beach St., Wickford, will be the site of a 7 p.m. Lafayette Band concert tomorrow, in the band shell, followed by fireworks. The rain date will be Saturday.

• On Block Island, a parade will step off from Legion Park, at Legion Park Way and West Side Road, tomorrow at 11 a.m. To register, call (401) 466-5343 It will be followed by a band concert at Nicholas Ball Park in Old Harbor, and the Fire Department’s annual steak fry at 12:30 p.m. Admission is $20.

A concert Saturday by “Booze Beggars” at the Fred Benson Town Beach Pavilion, on Corn Neck Road, will begin at 7:30 p.m., with fireworks to follow at 9.
