01:00 AM EDT on Wednesday, July 23, 2008
A 26-year-old North Kingstown man was arrested and charged this week with three counts of third-degree sexual assault, the state police said.
Matthew McCoy, of 54 New Lexington Rd., turned himself in to the State Police Wickford Barracks on Monday after investigators talked with his lawyer, said state police Lt. David Neill.
The alleged incidents occurred over a period of about 18 months, when the alleged victim’s age ranged from about 15 to 16½, Neill said.
Investigators believe the incidents occurred in South Kingstown, Charlestown and North Kingstown and were consensual, he said.
McCoy is scheduled to appear in District Court, Wakefield, for a felony screening on Aug. 13.
