Siravos honored for foundation work on epilepsy

The Epilepsy Foundation of America honored South Kingstown’s Debra and Richard Siravo and their three sons, at a dinner held recently in Cambridge, Mass.

The Siravos were recognized for their work in organizing the Matthew Siravo Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit organization named in honor of their son who died at age 5 from complications due to epilepsy. The foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises funds for epilepsy research, education, awareness and scholarships.

The foundation will host a Snow Angel Ball dinner and silent auction on Jan. 27 at the Crowne Plaza, Warwick. For more information, call 789-7330.

Learn about founder of American anthropology

The Museum of Primitive Art and Culture will present a program on Wednesday, Nov. 29, on anthropologist Franz Boas to be given by his grandson, Dr. Norman Boas. Franz Boas is considered the founder of American anthropology. Norman Boas is the author of his grandfather’s biography.

The talk will be held at the museum, 1058 Kingstown Rd. in South Kingstown, and is free and open to the public. For more information, call 783-5711.
